{5.5.2013} wanna sketch reminder

Getting ready for Mom

Unity Stamp company is helping you get ready for Mom.
This week’s STAMP of the WEEK is for Mother’s day.

Mother’s Day Daisies

Supah adorable and oh so sweet.
What mother doesn’t deserve some flowers?

I’m using this set with my Wanna Sketch.  I’m so excited for the ENTRIES already.
They are FABULOUS and it makes me so giddy to see what you all come up with.

I thought I’d share the evolution of this card and WHY sketches are so fabulous.  Plus, I don’t think of sketches as restricting, but as inspiring.  They get you started and then you let your creativity (or in my case, mistakes) guide you.
I actually started with the yellow patterned paper covering the entire card.  The daisies were on the white banner, but not trimmed out and I went to stamp my saying along side the banner and effed it up!  Crooked and bad.  Goodness gracious.  So I stared at it for awhile and a new plan evolved into what you see now.  I trimmed out the sides on the banner to help the flowers pop more.  Super cute right?  Please say yes.  Ha.  Then I trimmed the yellow paper and attempted a straight sentiment at the bottom.

A new Wanna Sketch will go up May 19th, so you have plenty of time to play with this one.
Link up below so I can stop by and see your beautiful project.

{4.21.2013} wanna sketch no. 4

So…

I’m beginning a new journey.
A rebirth of sorts and a rediscovery of my craft.

I have been at this blogging thing for 4 years and so much has happened since my first post in March of 2009.  More than I ever imagined.  I have been blessed with AMAZING experiences, lessons, friends, accomplishments and a deep love for a craft I never knew existed.  As with anything, I have grown and evolved.  I have learned and still need/want to learn more.  I have also reached a point where I feel like I need to step back and return to the love that started this adventure.

I recently mentioned that my plate is full.  Well, it is… with normal life.  It is amazing how time flies and how it disappears so quickly.  I’m trying to grasp it with both hands and to cram everything I can into those fleeting moments.  Thus, my blogging has suffered a bit.  You might have noticed or not, but I feel it.  My mojo felt the crunch and let me know I needed to lighten my outside blogging responsibilities.  I am continuing on with Unity (and will forever or until Angela kicks me out) and with Paper Smooches Sparks (my term ends soon, but I’d stay forever if I could).  So now, I can return focus to my blog again.  I can focus more on creating for me and for the things that inspire me.  I’m hoping this will mean more videos and more tutorials.  I have a love for my Cameo and want to share more files with that.  These are just things I have been thinking about and we’ll see what the future brings.  But I am excited.  I feel like the ol’ blog has been ignored and that is not a good thing.

With all that said… I am pleased as punch to bring back Wanna Sketch?  What is this you might ask?  Well, forever ago, I said I wanted to share some sketches I like to create.  Well, life got in the way and I started creating sketches for my design teams instead.  Sadly, Wanna Sketch? got put on the back burner.  Well no more, it is back and I’ll post a new sketch every 3rd Sunday of the month.  It is all for fun.  There are no rules.  I may even combine my sketch with inspiration from another challenge.  I’ll share my card and sketch and you are welcome to link up yours.  I’ll stop by and leave a little love and then select my favorite (or two or three) to highlight in the next month.
Then it all begins again.

So are you ready to see this month’s sketch?

wannasketchblinkie

Such a great basic sketch.  I see so many possibilities with that little banner.  Patterned paper, stamping, different shapes, sentiments… the sky is the limit.  I can’t wait to see what you all do.  I decided to go with embossing.  I’m using the brand new Stamp of the Week from Unity.  The butterfly is just gorgeous.  I grabbed the sentiment the current Kit of the Month as well.

I was also inspired by the Runway Challenge this week.  All that black and white… just stunning.  I couldn’t help but add a little bit of color, but it is pretty muted with the ribbon.  I think this might be the first card I have used ribbon on this year.  How is that possible?  Well, we have remedied that with some soft pink, satin ribbon.  Whew, I feel better.

So, if you feel inspired to create with my sketch, please link up below.  I’d be thrilled if you shared the sketch and link back this post as well.  Like I said, there are no rules.  However you are inspired to use the sketch is just perfect.  I’ll post a favorite or two next month with a new sketch.

{3.14.2013} post no. 2 – Unity Thursday

**This is my second post for the day… please scroll down one for my CAS(E) this Sketch card.**

If you are looking for some Unity Stamp Company cards, then you are in the RIGHT place.
The design team is hopping today along with 3 special ladies.  They played along in the Unity {be inspired} Challenge and were asked to showcase their amazing talent with us today.  Didn’t they rock it???
Hope you left Brigit, Laurel and Heather lots of love.

Lots of fun stuff going on today.
New stamps and a fabulous promo.

AND a Unity hop.
I just love Thursdays.

All the action starts on the Unity blog.

We are kicking off the new {be inspired} challenge today.
Here is a peek at it.

Lots to love right???
I made 2 cards for this new challenge.

Did you see this week’s Stamp of the Week?
So, super cute!
I’m using the sketch from the challenge and 2 of the colors.
I popped up the stamped panel over one of my favorite backgrounds stamps – Hearts of Old.

– and –

I had to use the BRAND NEW monthly sentiment kit.
Can you believe this amazing kit is only $10 for this month only???
I’m using the colors again from this month’s challenge.  I think I got them all except the pink.
I forgot that one.  Oops.  I really meant to include it somewhere and forgot.

The flowers were colored with two colors of ink… first the yellow and then I used the corner of the orange ink to dab a little on top of the yellow before stamping.  The top two flowers are popped up as well.  To make my multicolored flowers easier to stamp, I cut away the leaves.

Gasp… I know.  Some people can’t handle cutting their stamps.  But if it makes it easier for me to stamp in different colors, I’m not shy about bringing out my scissors.  It works so nice too.  🙂

** COMMENT PRIZE **
Don’t forget to leave a comment on each blog today.
We’ll be giving away 3 prizes from comments left on the participating blogs.

That is all from me, head on over to the amazing RENEE next!!!!

{2.3.2013} a happy heart

It is Sunday and that means Unity Stamp Company has a
BRAND spankin’ new Stamp of the Week.

Don’t you love it?
Those sweet cutie patootie hearts.
You can use them all together or separate one out like I did.
I have a little tag or lunch box note using today’s stamp of the week.

If those little hearts don’t make your loved one smile nothing will.
They sure make my little heart happy.

The tag and sun was cut out with my Cameo.  I used my square punch to create the sentiment banner.  I had a leftoever scrap from that punch and noticed it looked like a little tab.  So I recreated that with the striped patterened paper and used that to point out the smiley heart.  I’m going to have to remember that!!!
